There is a ruckus in the country over the Pegasus spyware. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is a constant attacker on the Modi government on the allegations of espionage. Now Mamata didi has come down heavily on the Modi government for the alleged hacking of phones using Pegasus spyware, alleging that the ruling government at the Center spied on her meetings with election strategist Prashant Kishor. Mamta said that I was in a meeting with Prashant Kishor and some other people a few days ago. They (government) have cloned the meeting. Bengal CM said that Prashant Kishor got his phone audited and it was found that one of our meetings was known to him (the government) through Pegasus spyware.
‘Snoopgate’ more dangerous than ‘Watergate’
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called the Pegasus espionage episode more dangerous than the ‘Watergate’ episode that surfaced during Richard Nixon’s reign in America. Banerjee termed the alleged espionage as a “great emergency”. The Chief Minister alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government has politicized all impartial institutions. “Pegasus is more dangerous than the Watergate scandal, it’s a great emergency,” he said.
