Rain has wreaked havoc in many areas including Konkan, Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. Train services on the Konkan Railway route were affected due to incessant rains and flooding of rivers and around 6,000 passengers were stranded. Rail and road traffic has been affected in many other parts of the state including Mumbai due to heavy rains. According to railway officials, 5,500-6,000 passengers are stuck in trains on the Konkan rail route. Due to this the authorities had to call in the NDRF to assist the administration in the rescue work.
Center assured all possible help
Amidst the horrific situation arising out of heavy rains in Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while talking to the Chief Minister of the state Uddhav Thackeray discussed the situation arising out of heavy rains and floods in the state. Assuring the Maharashtra government of all possible help from the Center, the Prime Minister said that I pray for everyone’s safety and well-being.

CM instructed officials to keep an eye on the water level
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain for the next three days for the coastal areas. The Chief Minister has directed the officials to remain alert and keep an eye on the water level of the rivers and take people to safer places.
